Groups in master ninja

Any good strats for dealing with groups in master ninja? Only move that seems to work for me is running around so I can single off one and wear them down, or poppinf ultimate in a corner and hoping it doesn't get deflected, but some of the fights have like 4 or 5 waves of enemies and it becomes quite tedious
