BMW Bluetooth (F10/F11) and Android 15,16 issue - solution.
Afternoon!
It took me good fw hours today and a lot of reading about reicent Android 15/16 bluetooth changes to understand and resolve annoying issue with bluetooth disconnecting and not being able to navigate my phone/media settings via my 2014 F10 iDrive system.
I just thought I'll ost solution here, in case someone else is experiencing or will be experiencing simialr issues.
Symptons:
- phone connects OK to car. Stays connected, can play music, make phone calls, but for very short period of time. Then the car's infotiment screen freezes ie on played media or call.
- when bluetooth phone is disconnected (via phone), it still shows as connected in a car.
Solution
- enable developer options in your Android phone (Settigs -> About Phone -> Device Identifilers - >Build numner -< tap it few times.)
- go to Developer Options (system -> Developer options, scroll down to Bluetooth setings and make sure that:
- Bypass Bluetootk LE audio allowlist is set to ON
- Disable Bluetooth LE audio hardware offload is set to OFF
- Disable Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload is set to OFF
- Bluetooth AVRCP version (Audio/Video Remote Control Protocol) is NOT set to the highest one. Try with the lowest possible first - this will work with your car, then if you wan't you can increase version. The one that works 100% is AVRCP 1.3
- Bluetooth MAP version - just keep it default
- Bluetooth audio codec - Default (Non need to change it to fallback one thats SBC as some articles suggest.
- Bluetooth Audio Sample Rate - keep it default
- Bluetootk Audio bits per second - keep it default
- Bluetootk Audio Channel mode keep it default.
With the settings above, Android 15/16 phone will work prfectly fine with your older bluetooth enabled car.
I hope it helps someone.
