Christmas gifts from in-laws before we move
We’re making the move from North Carolina to Denver, CO this summer! I’m very excited! I’m pregnant with our second child and my sister in law (brothers wife) who is one of my best friends is pregnant as well! The babies will be two months apart and were so excited.
My husband’s parents are not excited about this move from us in general because we’ll be going from a 3 hours drive to a 3 hour flight. They didn’t visit often anyways so honestly, we’ll probably see them the same amount.
They are big “gift giving is our love language” type people and love to buy very LARGE gifts for our daughter (think indoor players and giant stuffed animals). I️ want to make it very clear without being rude that we certainly don’t want anything large we’d have to get rid of/move in a few months. My husband and I️ certainly don’t need any more stuff. We’re trying to get rid of stuff all the time, not take on more.
How do we kindly and politely state we don’t want physical gifts this year (small ones for our daughter are fine of course!) but we’d so much rather them save their money for a trip out to visit! Can I️ even making this ask or do I️ just let them do their normal thing?
