SOLD my 2016 Macan S-- some reflections
Purchased in 2023 for $16.5 at 105 miles, one owner socal car with all dealer maintenance up to date. Seemed to have all dealer add-ons for the time, including the 20" Spyder wheels.
If you browse this subreddit or macan forums you will stress out in a similar way to looking up a rash on WebMD. I always felt the car was going to blow up and spit out a $15k repair bill at any moment. I did the oil changes myself and the only maintenance I paid for while I had it was front CV axles (started to click very loudly and quickly, versus past cars that seemed to be a lot more gradual) and full brakes ($4500 shop bill).
I think it was a great looking car, drove well and had nice power when needed. I never valued the Macan as a "porsche" in terms of operating cost. If it was a 911 I would have no issue throwing money at it as issues popped up down the line. I sold the car yesterday for $16k with 121k miles to an Audi enthusiast that knew what he was getting into. If it was a younger single girl coming to see the car I would honestly steer her away from the purchase or tried my best to explain what she was getting into. Long story short, it treated me well but for prospective buyers-- make sure it is a car you want and value in terms of maintenance costs. Maybe it would have went another 5 years without a single issue-- we will never know. Cheers
