AITA for encouraging my wife to take promotion through illicit means?

We got married right after college and have been together for over 20 years. I have seen her climb the career ladder with sheer dedication and hardwork. I know she would put her ambitions before me even when we were dating and I was fine with it.

For past few years she got stagnated because now the promotions require bit of contact. Only way was to switch job but that would have required us to move and she didnt want to affect our kid's education by doing that.

Few days back she told me about a vacancy for promotion in a different department. She said she wont even be applying for it and I was confused. She told me how the guy supposed to give noc for inter department transfer asks for illicit favours from women.

She is fully qualified and if she wants the promotion is her's to take. The promotion is quite a jump and will raise her salary more than double too. I told her if she feels like it she can go through with it abd that that I have no objection to it. She said she wouldnt and I wanted to make sure she knew I didnt have a problem with it so I encouraged her to take it.

She was quite dissppointed and said I dont have respect for our relationship. I told her its her choice but I would prefer she takes it. She said I am putting her in difficult position because of our kids education funds and stuff by being okay with it. Am I the asshole for givin her the choice only encouraging her so she knows I am okay with it?
