Questions and Curiosity. Kind of a lot to take in and can't find solid answers.
Hey guys so I am currently in the military. My wife and I were dating for about 5ish months before I joined, but after boot camp I got her pregnant (i know, typical). Well, about 6ish months go by and with little to no advice from the ones in charge of me. We got married that I solely believe was to be together when I got to my duty station so I could be with her, our son etc.
Well, now im coming up on the end of my contract and we have both had talks about our marriage and whatnot in the past. Sounds crazy but we both agreed that if we had not been having our son, honestly, probably wouldn't be married right now. Over time I feel like love and interests have kind of split between us, seems like we're mainly just partners. But she is pregnant again (ikr) and due this coming March, while I get out next September.
So I was curious about an abundance of things like how would I approach the idea of divorce in the nicest and best way possible? How much does it typically cost (would probably be filing out of MN). And lastly, I have another thing in mind that might hit people differently but it's kind of just what I want in life. I plan on going to college in Texas after I get out and potentially stay, while she wants to move back to MN. I wouldn't want to fully take my kiddos with me since all of the family and support system (outside of parenting) is over there, but I do not want to live there. So, how do the ones that have kids living in a different state / area kind of manage being able to see them?
I have this plan that I'd either go up there once or twice throughout the year for a period of time and then have them live with me for maybe half their summer out of school (only half because I don't want to take away from them spending that fun summer without their friends) and I just dont know. I'm lost to be completely honest.
I dont feel like making a major move and getting a house, life, etc set up in MN when my plan is to kind of do my own thing. I want to build some sort of foundation for my kids for when they get older (like a business) and MN just isn't the place for what I want to do. But the divorce thing would be something I would want to discuss with my wife before getting out so that the intention of moving back home isn't to be living together (unless needed) and starting life up there.
I'm a big advocate on a healthy household and if my wife and I just arent interested in each other than how would that be healthy? I don't want to be the couple that just drags out the years of marriage because of the kids ya know?
Would love honest opinions, advice, etc.
