Career Change to FP&A -- Advice Please
I am in my mid-30s and am contemplating a career change into finance. I'm open to avenues, but leaning towards FP&A, maybe non-profit but possibly corporate. I come from an education background and have taught elementary through college levels over the past 10 years. My advanced degrees are in music and education. I have no background or experience in finance, other than some bookkeeping work for a small LLC and a non-profit, but I do have a nerdy interest in finance and data.
I currently have mostly shifted outside of the classroom and do private teaching and consulting, so my schedule is very flexible. Trying to figure out if I should take advantage of my light load and take on an online MBA program or just take some basic classes and seek certifications.
All advice welcome, especially from career-switchers. I've been listening to podcasts and doing some online learning courses on LinkedIn and YouTube just to started in the process of wrapping my brain around the terminology and pillars of finance.
