Another Burnout Post
Everyone says the cure for burnout is taking a break or practicing self-care—but the more I try, the less I want to go back to the field. I’ve been a therapist for 10 years, and honestly, I feel done. But what do you do when leaving isn’t an option? The economy is rough, and I don’t have the luxury to just walk away. I don’t believe I’m harming my clients, but I’m just… not in it anymore. Every day, I have to flip the switch to ‘therapy mode,’ and it drains me. I cry. I’m exhausted. I need advice from anyone who has been through this—how do you survive this feeling when you know it could be a long time before you can make a change?
