Cutting off family while pregnant sucks

TW: Drugs / Alcohol

So I guess rehab is just about coddling addicts and pretending their behaviors are not harmful to others and are the result of everyone else? No personal accountability whatsoever?

I went into this meeting with my family for my sister who is an alcoholic to plan for her release and to make a “moving forward” plan, of which after my family members complained endlessly about her stealing alcohol from personal collections, her behavior towards the rest of the family despite living at home at 28 and not having an actual job in years, shit talking us to her boyfriend who then unloads on us- they all said they had “zero expectations” for her when she comes home and all the focus is on helping her. Which is great, if I didn’t have to listen to everyone complain and then not nut up to address their issues when given the opportunity. Just the same narrative, how we’re the bad guys yet somehow we are the ones at this meeting and got her help in the first place- not her boyfriend.

I’m over halfway through my pregnancy and had to handle all of this absolute bullshit since my mom died and I’m out at this point. I’m not here to pretend like we’re the reason she’s an alcoholic and there are zero expectations going forward. If that’s what they want then fine but I don’t live at home, I’m trying to form my own family and I don’t have time to accommodate being shit talked constantly while being told to handle everyone else’s problems when no one has helped me or offered to or even asked about anything having to do with my pregnancy this entire time and I’m over halfway through it.

I’m done being everyone’s punching bag yet also who they go to when they need a problem solved. I’m going to get myself back into therapy and handle my own life now. I’m making a conscious choice to not be involved in their lives going forward because all that’s involved is pain for me. I don’t care about being the bad guy anymore, they can use my leaving as a reason to band together and hate me collectively- I don’t care anymore. I’m done.
