Is there like a 2.5 year old sleep regression

2 Years Old ✌️

Fully acknowledging some of you have struggled with a sleep regression since your kids were born and you guys are the real MVPs but fielding this question out to parents whose kids haven’t had any significant sleep issues.

My 2.5 year old was a fantastic sleeper and now he is absolutely brutal. I literally used to be able to put him in his bed awake and he’d chill and fall asleep eventually. Now it’s absolutely brutal. Meltdowns before bed. One more story. One more song. Water. On and on and on. He literally will not go to sleep until 9 at this point. I’ve even tried pushing his bedtime back. So now we start around 7:30 and he falls asleep anywhere between 8-8:30. He gets tonnnnns of energy out all day. Play groups, playgrounds, outdoor time, crafts, educational shit to keep the wheels turning. We’ve tried calm evenings before bed. Get the jiggles out dance party before bed. I’ve tried to hold firm on the routine but I end up caving at points where he’s screaming for one more twinkle twinkle because I feel horrible when he gets all worked up. He’s waking anywhere from 6:45-7:30.

He usually naps around 12:30-1 and this has become an all out war as well. Typically when he does fall asleep around 12:30-1 he’ll sleep till about 2-2:30. Honestly zero changes in our life too, except for the weather.

I know it seems silly complaining about it all because I know some of you are up at all hours of the night but I don’t have a village and my husband works 7 days a week 12-14 hour days and I’m just by myself all day and night long. I look forward to my breaks at night and during naptime to just clean and keep up with life without having an unhinged two footer causing mayhem and zapping my central nervous system with the screaming and whining (I say this with full love, love my kid and wouldn’t change anything just joining the drained and burnt out parents club).

Is it a phase or is it forever until he’s like 12? Cause I’m defeated today. Full of love for him…but defeated.
