Urgent care lab error
Yall I went to urgent care yesterday for a routine STD check and I made the mistake of telling them that I typically get one to two UTIs per year… I went to the bathroom to produce a sample and there were no wipes or anything for clean catch so I let them know and they said “its fine”, so I assumed that they would be able to differentiate contamination from infection. Long story short they diagnosed me with a UTI and prescribed macrobid… I was suspicious so I ran a reagent strip and microscopic analysis at school with my instructor and the strip was completely normal and there was no bacteria or WBCS (less than 2 per field). How are they able to get away with this??? I’m actually so angry that I almost wiped my gut for this and almost contributed to antibiotic resistance 💔
