Mutual fund profit booking vs holding

I want to know your views and strategy about it what really works for you. Because the profit is virtual and it can be always fluctuating, and also with reference to taxation as short and long term capital gains both are taxed. What strategy do you feel better and you follow if you can explain I would love to have some analysis on this point
