The weird gaslighting

Avoidant Advice Requested

To be honest I still don’t get his need to be dishonest or just…lie. Some of the things in the rls that dumbfounded me, two weeks after the break up:

  • When we were on the last stages of the relationship and we were going to have a call (as we always scheduled Mondays) he told me “oh, I thought you said Tuesdays, that’s why I didn’t say anything”. Never said that. I always told him I had 0 issues with him telling me “I don’t feel like doing that”, why the need to gaslight?

  • We had an inner joke about imaginary third parties (let’s just name them Laura and John). One day in “Suggestions” on Instagram I found an ig with the name Laura he was following, full of likes of him in her pictures and the likes eere all recent. I had a weird gut feeling and asked him and he told me “I don’t know her, we follow es h other for a long, long time! If it bothers you I erase her!”. He did, but the scenario was weird and I still wonder if it was paranoia or it was really something.

  • on the last stages of the relationship there was a day he didn’t text me until the night. He told me “oh, I thought you needed space” when I never needed space and I’m not that person…

  • “I’m going to plan the most wonderful date for us!” in the date “oh, I didn’t plan anything…you told me you were going to plan!”. Never said that.

  • “I remember when you did xyz…I never forget, I am very observant” out of the blue in the middle of a convo. I asked if he was resentful over something and he told me “no, not at all. I was just joking! you always look for deep meanings in jokes…”

Did any of you had this experience?
