Cat peeing/pooping on floor (She’s been to the vet twice!)
So this doesn’t get removed and just for clarification, she’s been to the vet twice for this issue and still a problem.
So I’ve had my cat since 2018, she’s about 7-8. Starting maybe 5 ish months ago? Maybe longer, she will randomly poop under the couch, sometimes in a random spot and if she pees it’s usually in my room where I get ready and on my clothes. It’s not every day, as she does still use the box. We took her to the vet, and no uti or health issues, they assumed it was the environment as we moved in April, which could be true but I’ve also moved with her multiple times throughout the years, so they gave her meds to give to calm her down if that may be the case and recommended calming spray. This has been on and off before, so hard to tell if it worked or not as later on it continued.
I looked more into it, we put another litter box upstairs, we tried different kinds of cat litters and cat boxes, 2 vet visits and no health issues, no change in diet and her stools look fine. We started to have to close all the doors to rooms with carpets (bedroom, spare rooms, etc) she has plenty of room in the living room and basement we have a large house. But every once in a while she’ll still poop under the couch. After a few weeks, things seemed better, then this morning the one day I decided to keep the spare room open as I get ready for work and she pees right on my clothes. A different spot on clean clothes and no odor from before as she’s never peed there, we also cleaned every other area she goes that way that could be a possible reason.
I just don’t understand. We tried different litters, boxes, cleaning them constantly, moved boxes to different areas, vet visits. Could it be possible she just doesn’t care to use it anymore and go where she pleases? What other reason could this be happening? I just don’t know what else to do I feel bad for closing her out of rooms but I get so worried she’s just going to pee and poop all over the carpet, I just don’t get it. Anyone else have this issue and what else can I try?
