Small local sort

I work at a small facility sorting packages part time in the evenings and nights. It’s a part time job while I’m going to school so it’s okay if I have low hours but lately it’s been super low hours and that’s fine hour wise but I can’t take anytime off because I haven’t been there a year so when I don’t work and just sit around it’s not like I can plan a trip or anything because I’m basically on call. Anyone else have this experience as well? Really thinking about calling it quits getting 7 hours a week and not being able to have fun weekend trips is kinda becoming annoying.
