Windows 11 moving from 1 PC to a new one (both Win 11 pro )
Hi !
Hello all
My Windows 11 PC (Esprimo) is on version 23H2 and can’t be updated further because the processor is too old: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700T CPU @ 2.90GHz.
I'm quite frustrated about this, but if it can't be helped, then so be it.
I am now planning to acquire a Lenovo Mini PC, the ThinkCentre M90q Gen 6 with an Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 285 vPro® processor.
The Lenovo comes with Win 11 Pro, which I already have on my old Esprimo.
The complete setup of the new PC with all programs and settings (network, NAS, etc.) is daunting to me and certainly a source of errors that could take many hours of work.
My plan: Backup with AOMEI software from the current PC to a new SSD, which will be a 100% clone of the drive from the Esprimo PC.
I would then install this into the new Lenovo PC.
According to my plan, the Lenovo should boot and be a 1:1 image of my Esprimo PC... unless some drivers sabotage the boot process.
Then I would do a Windows update and ideally, 25H2 would be downloaded.
I know that a fresh installation would be the better route, but the current system is running and stable.
Reinstalling from scratch would involve many hours of work, and troubleshooting afterwards would also take additional time.
Has anyone done something like this?
Did it work, or have I overlooked something crucial?
I would appreciate any help...
