Don't know if my Psychologist and my Psychiatrist are doing the best service.

Hey, I'm a 22-year-old male who had an exhausting first semester this year. I went through a severe depressive episode during that time and started therapy with a psychologist who follows Winnicott's approach. She recommended that I see a psychiatrist because of my deep depression and a possible bipolar disorder.

I asked my therapist to write an overview of my case to help the psychiatrist understand the whole picture before meeting me. However, because of timing (the appointment was scheduled one day later), she couldn’t do it and said she would next time — which made me question the quality of the process, since it felt like something that really had to be done given how serious my situation was.

After seeing the psychiatrist, I was prescribed Divalcon (250 mg). After doing some research, I’m honestly terrified to start it, since I’ve been feeling severely depressed for almost a year without any clear hypomanic episodes, and I also have a history of four (!) renal calculus surgeries.

I really question the decisions of both professionals and don’t know if I should look for another therapist or psychiatrist and start all over again.
