🚨 $XOM to the 🌕 on Venezuela-Essequibo Chess Moves? Here’s the Play 🚨

Discussion

Alright degenerates, time to stop sleeping on Exxon Mobil. If you’re not already in your $XOM YOLOs, it’s time to pay attention, there’s a massive geopolitical setup primed to turbocharge this boomer stock and maybe make your portfolio way less sad.

Let’s talk Essequibo: We’re looking at an oil basin in Guyana with over 11 billion barrels chilling in the ground, thanks in large part to Exxon’s exploration hustle. Exxon’s been drilling like it’s 2007, racking up discoveries and basically turning Guyana into the Qatar of the Atlantic. But here’s the juice: Venezuela has been making real noise, flexing military muscle and threatening to invade the region to snatch those resources for themselves.

US foreign policy? Straight-up maximum pressure on Maduro not to touch Exxon or Guyana. Even Secretary of State Marco Rubio said if Venezuela attacks Guyana or Exxon, “It would be a very bad day for them” (translation: US will rain hell if you mess with our oil bags).

TLDR: Venezuela pushes in, risk premium on Guyanese oil jumps, global supply gets spooked, and oil majors like Exxon print money.

But wait there’s more: If Maduro finally gets toppled (the dude’s hanging on by dental floss), Exxon is first in line to get even more favorable development terms and expand its drilling in a jury-free Essequibo. Guyanese courts already hand Exxon's legal team blank checks, you think a new government won’t play ball?

Here’s why the risk/growth play slaps:

  • Exxon owns most of the sweet spots in Guyana via the Stabroek Block (think $60-70M per well—and they plan to drill more near Essequibo this year).
  • The company owns contracts that let it recoup 75% of its investment right out of production profits, THEN split the rest 50/50 with Guyana.
  • On current projections, Exxon’s profits are set to rip as production in Guyana ramps and if oil stays >$70 (hello Middle East instability).
  • XOM’s been trading at around $115 with a P/E of 16.4, market cap $492B, and it’s got resistance at $123. If geopolitics heat up, $150+ isn’t cope (analysts projecting as high as $161-$180 in ‘26/’27).

Worried about risk? The US military basically said “Touch Exxon and find out”. Meanwhile, Guyanese leadership is all-in on letting Exxon milk the basin, and any new Venezuela regime will need US love.

In short, if Maduro falls or even flinches, $XOM is positioned like a giga-whale with oil cash flow up, legal security, and US protection at its back.
