Question for Perth pet owners - at-home vs clinic for saying goodbye?
Dreading this conversation, but need some honest advice. My 15-year-old Labrador's been declining badly - arthritis, barely eating, struggling to stand. Vet's hinted it might be time soon, and I'm absolutely gutted just thinking about it.
Do I take him to the clinic like we did with our last dog, or look into those at-home services? Last time at the clinic was honestly traumatic - sterile room, fluorescent lights, Max was already stressed from the car trip before anything even happened. Mate at work mentioned there are services that do dog euthanasia at your home, where your pet can be in their own space, comfortable and relaxed. Sounds so much better in theory, but I've got questions:
Anyone here gone through this decision? What helped you decide? How does the process work compared to a clinic visit? Is it ridiculously expensive?
I want Max's final moments to be as calm and dignified as possible. He's been my best mate for 15 years and deserves better than dying scared in some vet's office.
