Has anyone else tried therapy and feel like you're better off figuring things out yourself?

Rant (see rule 9)

I was assaulted as a teenager. My family didn't have money (it was around 2008) and they're also super religious, so I wasn't getting any help lol I thought that lack of therapy was the one thing holding me back from getting better, and told myself as soon as I could afford it on my own, I would. So I spent years, honestly distracting myself but also figuring out how to live day to day life through the PTSD.

10+ years later I've had two therapists; first one was supposed to give 5 free sessions (through a work program) and tried charging me after I left. She FORGOT that I told her I was assaulted. And talked for 40/50minutesbof our session. And the little advice she DID have was stuff I figured out in high school. Completely waste of time.

I tried giving it another shot a few months ago. first off, she lied about having a specialty in trauma therapy (turns out she's just WORKED with patients with trauma. Whatever the fuck that means lol). I had a few sessions with her and ultimately liked her. Now I think I just liked her more than the first one and was excited about that. I finally told her, start to finish what happened. Something I had never done before. It was really hard. I'm appalled and embarrassed remembering myself telling her. She said the typical "it's not your fault" and explained why it wasn't and had some basic thoughts about what happened. Thing so already though. I already know it wasn't my fault. And she have no advice. She didn't seem to even have a plan as to what she's doing once I told her. 2 hours later she emailed me and told me she got a new job elsewhere and had to drop her clients, but we could continue a few more weeks. I congratulated her and declined. I just feel so stupid for trusting another stranger like that. She didn't deserve to know that about me. Now I'm just another "client with trauma" she has "worked with". Ugh.

I just don't understand. What are they supposed to be doing if not giving advice? I already know that me being assaulted as a teen was SAD. I know it's not my fault (kinda hard to be when you're being held at weapon point by a grown man). I know I didn't deserve it. I know it doesn't matter if people don't believe me. I know. I've known. So what am I supposed to be gaining from catching someone up to speed? I think if my mental health REALLY declines, I may try again. But I'm sure as fuck not telling them about my assault. I've had better experiences venting to people on reddit. And that's free.
