Success stories - 2 pregnancies with SC

Hi All,

I wanted to share how much this forum has helped me for both of my pregnancies. Upon finding out I had a short cervix in my first pregnancy, I went down the rabbit hole of this thread to give myself hope and realistically understand what to expect, but also to ask the right questions.

It has been extremely helpful and I am proud to say I have successfully given birth to 2 full term healthy babies. However, both pregnancies very stressful and while I was advised not to be on bed rest I definitely limited myself for long walks, etc. The second pregnancy was much tougher because I do have a toddler, but a supportive partner that took over heavy lifting with keeping my toddler happy and entertained when I couldn’t.

First pregnancy pessary and vaginal progesterone only, my MFM advised against the cerclage because I was border line but to monitor closely for next pregnancy Week 22 3/9 - 21 mm Week 24 3/23 - 16 mm Week 26 4/6 - 14 mm Week 27 4/13 - 8.6 mm Week 28 4/21 - undocumented Week 30 5/4 - undocumented Week 32 5/18 - positive FFN Week 37+6 - water broke and baby #1 born via c section (breech) no NICU stay, home after 48 hours (I will say I maybe pushed myself into this. After months of not walking around for extended period of time, I went to the mall, got a mani/pedi, and walked to dinner haha - but already had a scheduled c section bc baby was breech)

Second pregnancy cerclage + vaginal progesterone Week 16 5/22 - non measurable + anatomy scan Week 18 6/5 - 31.7 mm Week 19 6/12 - 21 mm + progesterone Week 20 6/20 - 24 mm Week 21 6/27 - 17 mm + anatomy scan Week 22 7/2 - 14 mm (cerclage input) Week 23 7/9 - 21 mm Week 25 7/25 - 28 mm Week 27 8/8 - 27 mm Week 38+5 - water broke and baby #2 born via VBAC. From time water broke baby was born 11 hours later. No NICU stay, went home after 24 hours.

Now home with my 2 kiddos and so happy. I’ve always only wanted 2 kids max, and the stress of the pregnancy with the SC only confirms that decision (though looking at my newborn and snuggling makes me delusional and potentially rethink that, haha).

Thank you to everyone that shared their story - positive or negative - we are all here to find peace in an uncontrollable situation.
