For the short attention spans: 10/10, Pareka what the shit was this holy feck???

The Binär Label Night began with soft ambient chimes, welcoming dancers into the dimly lit pathways of Säule. On the decks, Pareka himself, opening smoothly with cavernous vocal samples that would soon descend into percussive grooves. The set grew steadily in depth and darkness, becoming a proper tribal stomp within the first hour, nothing shy of a Berghain set. Towards the end of, Forgotten by Charlton made for a spectacular dark highlight.

The life set by Dold took up on the groovy aspects of Pareka‘s set, fusing funky rhythms and clear, well defined basses. The atmosphere felt slightly lighter, yet not so much as to be considered a switch, more like a breather while maintaining the same aesthetics.

Marie-Julie then took over the decks, and this takeover probably consolidated my opinion of how fitting the booking was. She started off precisely were Dold had left it, with groove and bounce and taking this as a starting point, piloted the set into darker, more driving waters, bridging her dubby beginning into groove/ hardgroove to then land on a driving, yet atmospheric sound. Yet the increments in this descent were so gradual that she managed not to alienate the floor, keeping people in her grip despite flowing through genres. Impeccable track selection, seamless mixing and a caring eye for the bigger picture. The set got darker and darker yet, with Golden Hour by Kwartz making one hell of a dramatic entrance.

Dhæür began his closing as closings should begin, trippy hypnotising bleeps bouncing off of the walls, snares cutting the air and making your feet go into autopilot. Foggy, smooth basses engulfed the floor soon. Incredibly elegant in both sound design and mixing, comparatively void in melodies, the set unfolded as a carpet of intensity, with dense layering that almost never reached saturation. I stopped Pareka a couple of times to ask him what the shit was happening to the music. Cause I had expectations, but this was way above them right from the start. Impeccable narrative providing moments of rest every now and again, never pushing too much on the bpm, hitting the balance between drive and hypnosis really really well. My only complaint is that it was over way too soon (WAY too soon). Keep your eyes peeled for Dhæür. Like for real.

This was such a stellar event altogether. The party in its entirety felt exactly like the record that this was the release party of, the journey through moods in the record being mirrored precisely by the intensity of the sets. You could literally feel the conceptual care that went into this. A track, an image of a record, the record, an impression of a set, the set, a picture of a party. A party, showing you what it means to live a life at the service of art, when likeminded creatives gravitate together and resonance arises. 4/4 = 1.0 = a whole. 🫀
