A local ICE abduction highlights a serious need; there is alack of training, and leadership mentality that causes us to succumb to the bystander effect. We need to organize community ICE response training

Call to Action

We've all seen the videos - There are groups of people that have taken responsibility to follow ice around and document what they do, and that has included confronting groups of ICE agents and calling out what they are doing as illegal.

But there are not nearly enough of us with the courage or training or know how to do it. At least I think a lot of us don't feel like we could, that we'd end up causing more harm than not, and endangering ourselves in the process.

Which is exactly why that poor lady was dragged off at the Salt Lake City Airport.

If we sit back passively and wait for those who will inevitably decide they have had enough to step up and seek training, there will NEVER be enough of us to mitigate the actions of ICE in our communities; we need EVERY sympathetic community member to be educated, trained, and empowered to step up in the FIRST moment they realize ICE is kidnapping someone in their community.

And we need to perform the outreach to achieve this, even if we have to go door to door inviting people to town halls where this kind of training can be provided.

I would start with your personal friend networks, and people you know to be sympathetic. But also look for the signs of sympathy in your neighborhood (flags/bumper stickers etc) of people you don't know and invite them to a meeting (which you can set up), and they will know people who would want to help as well.

Reserve a community space (library, church, etc) for next weekend (11/01/25) so your community members can attend and know how to do their part.
