My mom might have thyroid cancer

Hello, I think I speak for everyone when I say I hoped I never had the need to write anything here. So, since couple of weeks back my mom has had a lump on her neck, after everyone insisted on her for a week or so, my mom went to the doctor and the doctor told her that it's just a common thing, and it's really nothing to worry about. Now, she went this morning to the doctor again and he said there are a few small lumps but there is one in particular that seems "serious". When she came home, she said she had bad news for me, and she told me that she's gonna assume it's thyroids cancer. So right now she is going to the hospital to have a check up and the results will come in the following days. I've seen around the internet that apparently a lump in the neck shows when it's advanced. But the thing is, she doesn't have a sore throat or has any trouble speaking, eating or anything else, it's just a lump surrounded by smaller, innoffensive ones. The tests from today showed that her blood is fine, her hormonal levels are apparently ok as well, the only thing going on is that lump.

I'm worried sick and I want to puke and scream and cry, I don't want my mom to die soon, I think nobody here wants that for their loved ones. I'm afraid, scared, I feel sick to my stomach and I don't know what to do. Please some one give me good news, my mom is 49 so it's probably impossible for her to have anaplastic, it's probably gonna be papillary.
