Things are not always as they seem
The conscious reasons for identifying with a symbol or picture may differ greatly from the unconscious reason for that identification. Both reasons will be true, undoubtedly, but there is a power deeper than the surface level inte tonal, though unconscious selection of a numinous symbol, or color pattern. The conscious reason usually is not deep enough, unless truly a conscious expression of unconscious content, to add the level of Meaning for the individual that is present. This usually points to a deeper meaning behind the selection of that symbol as a carrier of psychic power and energy for the individual.
