tips for skin detail and makeup creation?

i don’t know if this is the right place to ask but i was wondering if anyone here creates cc and has any tips for making skin details and makeup? i can’t seem to make it look good by just painting over the skin template, but whenever i try to use a 3D head in photoshop (it’s a 🏴‍☠️ version so idk if that’s the issue) it lags so bad i can’t do anything :/ is there a way to do it in blender or another 3D program? i tried to figure out painting in blender but can’t find any tutorials specifically for sims 4 😭
