New kitten struggling to be potty trained

I just got a 4 month kitten. She’s very affectionate and constantly wants to be held, but she pees everywhere. She’s already seen a vet prior to us adopting and they say everything is fine. Her tail and fur is covered in pee and I’m kinda overwhelmed. It’s only day 2, but I just want her to learn to pee in the litter box. It doesn’t have a lid. It’s boxie pro litter. I keep putting her in the litter box. She just wants to lay in it.
