AITA for laughing at my son for sleeping and holding his dog's paw?

I stayed with my son for a few days since he lives in another city. We are from India originally but live in Canada now. He lives alone with his dog and I stayed at his place for a night.

When I went to check on him before going to bed I saw him asleep with his dog in his bed, holding its paw like a child. I found it so funny I started laughing. He woke up and got upset and said it was something comforting for both of them. I told him it just looked ridiculous and that maybe that’s why he can’t find a girlfriend.

He got angry and said I was being mean. I told him I was half joking but honestly he is 28 and every girl here rejects him. When I offered to find someone for him back in India he said she must be atheist since he is one. I told him that is almost impossible to find there and that he is making it hard for himself. What is the point chasing people who do not want him either here or there.

Now he says I was cruel and judgmental but I was just trying to help and maybe make him see things a bit clearly. AITA?
