The Day My GPS Tried to Ruin My Life (But Accidentally Fixed It)

Super Hero

So last month, I was driving to a friend’s wedding in a nearby city. It was supposed to be a 2 hour drive. I put the address in my GPS, turned on my favorite playlist, and felt pretty good about being an adult who was on time for once. About halfway through, my GPS told me to “turn right” onto what looked like a road but was actually... a cow path. Literal cows were standing there, judging me like I’d interrupted their lunch break. I thought it might reconnect to the highway, so I kept going. Spoiler: it didn’t. Fifteen minutes later, I was completely lost, with no signal, on a dirt road surrounded by fields. I started laughing because honestly, what else can you do when your life feels like a low-budget sitcom? Then I saw a small farmhouse ahead. I stopped to ask for directions, and this old man came out, smiling like he’d been expecting me. He helped me find my way back and then offered me a glass of cold lemonade while I waited for my phone to get a signal. We ended up talking for almost an hour about random things: old cars, his dog, and how GPS is both the best and worst thing ever invented. I missed most of the wedding reception, but honestly? That detour ended up being the best part of my day.
