A life lesson you learned the hard way, but it’s funny?
Story time.
About 15 years ago, my wife and I were out driving and we happened upon a small pond surrounded by cattails. They were big and pretty, so we decided to stop and cut a few to decorate with.
We got them home and created two beautiful wall pieces and hung them up. I wish we would’ve taken pictures, because they really did look great.
The lesson part:
Do you know how cattails spread their seeds? Don’t feel bad. We didn’t either. It turns out that those pretty brown tips actually explode into little white puffs. Think “dandelion with a cottony feel.”
About a month after hanging them, those puffs were all over the house. I mean, EVERYWHERE! They actually favor couch fabric. Seems we were vacuuming for days. Even after a year, we would still find a random survivor lurking.
So, if you ever decide to decorate with cattails, do it with artificial ones. Thank me later.
