Package delivered to wrong address and got destroyed by neighbours.

So I ordered a package for my girlfriend’s birthday. I got a text this morning saying it had been delivered not a knock on the door nothing whatsoever. I rang up and asked what’s going on they said something about a brown door I said I don’t have a brown door. They raised the complaint with their manager or something (still no email about this which was said to be in 2 hours it’s been 4)

I managed to load the image on my computer, it looked like my next door neighbours house. Went round and they have given it to their dog as a toy. It’s completely ruined and destroyed.

Rang back and all I got told is I have to wait 10 days for a response? And to call the company I ordered from as I’m not royal mails customer they are and they have to complain.

My family are saying to blame the neighbours for opening it too. I just don’t know what to do other than just wait? I’m just lost and quite annoyed. The delivery man misread the address or he for some reason delivered my package in with theirs but still said he delivered it to my house. It clearly has my name on the package in the image.

Just help on what to do or advice I’m trying to not be emotional and I don’t think it’s worth confronting my neighbour as it’s more royal mails fault for confusing it. But I don’t know why you wouldn’t check the name or wouldn’t be aware of things you ordered like you clearly didn’t order a weighted panda teddy as a chew toy for your dog.
