Best way to learn bass if I want to play at church?

Hey everyone,
I’m learning bass because I want to play at my church, but they don’t use sheet music — it’s mostly ear-playing, chords, and following the band leader. I’m still a beginner and trying to figure out the best path to get good for worship playing.

For those who play in church bands, what would you say is the best way to practice and learn? Should I focus on ear training first, learning the Nashville number system, memorizing scales, or just learning songs?

Also, does the BassBuzz program help with this kind of playing? I hear it’s great for beginners, but does it translate well to worship music where you’re mostly playing by ear?

Any advice or routines would really help — thanks!
