Which variation of Marbot's memoir would you recommend for a first read?

Im a huge sucker for the stories of the rank and file and thought it time to pick up Marbot's memoir now. However I've learned theres a few variations so a few questions.

Is Butler's translation considered a go to english version? If so how accurate or credible is it and how does it read compared to modern english?

Recommended annotated versions with scholarly commentary as Marbot's accuracy as a source?

Any editions with maps, diagrams, and campaign methods?

Would you recommend reading with historical commentary first then butler's translation or vice versa?

I guess im trying to find the right balance of Marbot's full story and accuracy/nuance. Many of you seem to know your books so i thought id cast a semi wide net in questions.
