Workplace Toxicity

Why does everyone keep suggesting to switch jobs instead of fighting this rotten system?

Every time someone criticizes their workplace or mentions the toxicity faced by them in this subreddit, the default response of almost everyone here is “just switch your job” , which is the most nonsensical response in my opinion, and I'm not sure why everyone even agrees to it (since I see great amount of upvotes on those comments)

Most of the issues at Indian Workplaces (including Indian offices of Foreign companies) are systemic and have come through a work culture that has gone unchecked for DECADES: These include toxic work cultures, unpaid overtime, poor management, abusive behaviour of managers and the general lack of respect for employees’ time and well-being.

Telling people to simply leave their job shifts the blame from exploitative systems of the employer, onto the employees, as if it is their fault for not “adapting” to working in a hellish culture

And It’s also a deeply privileged take — not everyone can afford to jump jobs, especially in a country where stability and opportunity aren’t equally distributed. Besides, switching jobs doesn’t guarantee change; many people find the same problems waiting for them in the next company because the system itself is broken.

This mindset also kills accountability — if everyone leaves quietly, bad employers face no pressure to improve, and the cycle of exploitation continues. Instead of encouraging people to escape, we should be pushing for collective action, fairer policies, better labor rights, and a workplace culture that actually values humans and provides basic dignity at work. The goal shouldn’t be to keep running away from bad workplacs or bad managers— it should be to make sure they don’t exist in the first place.

Remember Guys, Today it's you advising to leave a Job because it's toxic, tomorrow it could be you stuck in a toxic job and begging for justice, and when you have no other option than to make a switch, you could land in to a place that is much more toxic than your previous one. Hence Let's not dig a grave for ourselves by letting this work culture go rot any further now

Too Long Didn't Read ? TLDR: Telling people to “just switch jobs” due to work toxicity ignores the deep, systemic issues in Indian workplaces. Instead of blaming employees, I urge folks here to take a collective action to fix the root cause of problems.
