Beyond due dates — why most reminder systems fail in real life

App

A lot of apps treat tasks like fireworks. One flash, then silence. But real life doesn’t behave that neatly. Plans slip, energy drops, and you can’t always act the moment something rings. When an app sends a single reminder and then vanishes, the task isn’t finished — it’s forgotten.

The only thing that consistently works is a mix of reminders that help you prepare and reminders that don’t let the task slip away. Early alerts get you ready. Persistent ones keep the task visible until you’re actually in a position to do something about it. That’s what reliability looks like: support that adjusts to your day instead of assuming your day is perfect.

That’s the philosophy behind GoTodo. Not pressure to react instantly, but confidence that what you set won’t quietly disappear. The reminder keeps going until you’re actually able to deal with it — not until some arbitrary timeout decides you’re done.

I’m the developer of GoTodo, and here’s my line in the sand: A reminder shouldn’t quit just because life got in the way. If something’s important, GoTodo keeps reminding you until it’s done — not until you’re distracted.
