Just lost my profile and bookmarks after my laptop overheated

I don't have a Mozilla account. So that option to recover them is gone.

I searched for a few minutes regarding recovery and I read something about Firefox doing automatic backups. I just checked my file manager and apparently I have zero folders regarding those.

Do I have to just accept that they're gone? If so, how can I avoid this type of thing in the future?

I like this browser and I don't plan on switching to another one, but this sucked.
