Paid Cronometer vs paid lose it

I started using Cronometer (free) because Lose It put the barcode scanner behind its paywall. I have used the (free) Lose It app in the past and enjoyed it. I started again in earnest about a month ago and was frustrated that the barcode scanner is now hidden behind a paywall. Switched to Cronometer (free) a couple of weeks ago and of course had to re-enter custom recipes & etc.

In theory, I am not opposed to ads for free access to a feature-rich app. But as many others have commented here, the FORMAT of the Google ads is incredibly frustrating . They take over the full screen and basically lock down the phone like a jump scare at the exact moment I’m trying to do something quickly. And the ads are often for incredibly generic apps I already own and use like Instagram.

I understand that Google chooses and controls how the ads look. I cannot imagine why anyone would pay Google to force their ad to appear in the most annoying manner possible.

But if I’m considering paying anyway, why would I pick Cronometer over Lose It? I mean that as a sincere question, not rhetorically.

What makes paid crono better than paid lose it? I know they both offer trial versions but I don’t want to have to switch back and forth anymore.

Tl;dr: free Cronometer > free lose it. Does the same hold true for paid? (Again I made my judgment chiefly based on the barcode scanning feature)

Thanks !

Ps I’m sure that there are other paid competitors like map my or whatever, but as you can see I’m not great at deciding.
