Need Advice: Army Active Duty or AGR

I'm currently trying to decide between joining the Active Duty Army or the Active Guard Reserve (AGR). I see pros and cons to both paths. On one hand, the Active Duty Army seems to offer faster promotions, but on the other hand, being in the AGR would allow me to use my BAH toward a mortgage ,so my housing allowance would go toward building equity instead of just paying rent.

For those with experience in either path, is it generally easier to promote in the Active Duty Army compared to AGR? I’m also wondering if the AGR lifestyle tends to be less adventurous or exciting than Active Duty. Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.
