Can I cut a hole for an exhaust vent through diagonal boards sheathing?

Hey everyone,

Looking to install a proper exhaust vent in the side of my attic since the bathroom fans currently aren’t vented properly. My home is old and has these Diagonal boards instead of plywood sheathing.

Can I cut a hole through these without causing any issues? Thanks.
