Title: Auto-stop recording if blue frames last 30+ seconds — does this exist?
Hey everyone,
I transfer old tapes and record them using vmix, I’m wondering if vMix has (or if anyone has built) a feature that can automatically stop the recording if the Program feed becomes a solid blue “no signal” screen for a certain duration — ideally ~30 seconds or more. This happens when the tape has a blank spot or ends and my AV to HDMI converter no longer is getting video from the camera/vcr. I want it to be at-least 30 seconds in case some tapes have intentional blank spots.
I know you can control vmix through external tools so I was wondering if some one has a program or written some kind of script that would help me. I only need it to stop recording. I want to be able to pop a tape in at end of shift and walk out of my office and not have an 12+ hour recording of blue.
The goal is basically a watchdog that says:
if Program = blue frame for 30s → stop recording
I know there are scripting/API options, and Chat GTP says I could build a small Python/NDI watchdog if needed, but I am not that smert yet so was hoping someone with a larger brain than mine has already created a solution. a built-in trigger, a plugin / companion tool or a clever vMix scripting setup.
