[PSA] Possible scam encounter at Bengaluru Airport – please be cautious!
Hey folks, Posting this to spread some awareness — had a slightly sketchy experience during Diwali weekend at KIA.
While travelling from the airport, I was approached by an Indian guy who said he’d just landed from Germany, had a layover in Bengaluru, and was flying next to Pune. He claimed he’d left all his belongings on the flight — wallet, phone, visa, passport, everything.
He said he had around ₹8,000 in hand but needed ₹2,500 more to book a new flight to Pune. I only had ₹1,000 in cash, which I gave him. He then requested that I go with him to Terminal 2 (we were at T1) to help him with a booking or find an ATM instead. I was running late, so I declined.
He noted my number and said he’d return the money later. It’s been about a month now — no response, no refund.
Just flagging this as a potential scam so that others are aware. If someone approaches you with a similar story, please be cautious.
TL;DR: Met a guy at BLR airport who claimed he’d lost his wallet and needed ₹2.5k to fly to Pune. I gave ₹1k, he promised to return it, but never did. Sharing this so others don’t fall for similar stories.
