Hello Reddit community, I don’t often post online about anything but I have recently had my account suspended by eBay mid purchase and I feel like I’ve been hung out to dry.

I have been an eBay member for 20+ years, mostly buying some selling. I use eBay very infrequently.

Recently I decided to buy a high value watch from eBay and after a couple of weeks found the perfect one and purchased for just under 14k.

Everything went fine, I paid and the item has been sent to the Authenticator.

A day later it arrives at the Authenticator and I get an email from eBay saying my account has been permanently suspended with a code MC999. I call them up, speak to the leadership team and he tells me that they can appeal and he will do that and let me know. Later on that day they email me that my account has been reinstated. No harm done, or so I thought.

Today I have checked my eBay account and I have another message telling me my account has again been suspended. This is without any activity on my account. So I call them again and they have told me that as I have been suspended twice it cannot be reversed and it is effectively thank you and goodbye.

Normally I wouldn’t care about all this but what is causing me concern is that I am in the middle of a big purchase and they have told me that it is likely the item will be returned to the seller and as my account is suspended I am not protected by the buyer guarantee, so will need to chase my bank up for the money.

This all sounds ridiculous to me, I know people band about how they have done nothing wrong, but besides from messaging numerous sellers about a watch before finally buying one I have not done anything out of the ordinary.

Has anybody experienced anything similar or have any advice about whether my watch is likely to come to me after authentication or if eBay are suffering from some kind of glitch?
