Photography Coaching and Mentoring
Hi All,
If this type of post isn’t allowed in here let me know in the comments and I’ll post it somewhere else.
Over the last few years as my own career has grown, I have become increasingly passionate about helping other photographers on their journey in this industry. Truthfully being a part of this community has really fostered that passion.
I’ve been a working photographer for about 20 years. My own journey as has had a little bit of everything. I first picked up a camera when I was about 8 years old and never really put it down. I went to art school in New York City for a time, then started assisting in the early 2000’s. I’ve gained experience through a bunch of different jobs in the industry. In addition to assisting and apprenticeships, I have worked at agencies before, Le Book, Getty Images for a couple years, freelance production, and of course most importantly I’ve shot just about every possible type of job you can think of from parties and events to sports and breaking news. My passion however was always portrait and fashion photography. I have always been obsessed with photographers like Richard Avedon, Peter Lindbergh, Irving Penn, Bruce Webber, Herb Ritts, and Annie Leibovitz. Photographers who’s portraits told a story in a single frame. I followed that passion my entire career and I’m happy to report that is primarily how I’m known now. My work has appeared Vanity Fair, Vogue, GQ, and Esquire. I’ve done work with brands across the spectrum of fashion, beauty, and luxury lifestyle including Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Cadillac, Estee Lauder, and many many others.
Over the last few months I’ve explored different avenues of teaching. I’ve done a lot of research and gotten feedback from both people I know in my everyday dealings, to people I’ve communicated with here. Most are learning off YouTube, and a lot have purchased some form of “masterclass” type content from another source. A few have paid for really pricey “mentorships” or “workshops” that feel like you’re just funding someone else’s trip or lifestyle.
My goal here is to offer something truly valuable and enriching through personal one on one mentoring and coaching. No set curriculum, and nothing out of bounds. Literally anything you want to know or explore I will help you. Anything technical, philosophical, business related, contracts, putting together estimates, advice on dealing with clients, advice on getting new clients, literally ANYTHING.
I’m offering up to 10 people, 1 hour a week of coaching for 5 weeks, either over zoom, phone, or in person if you’re in the New York Area. The cost is $1,000. I’m genuinely trying to help and pass on the knowledge I’ve gained for almost 20 years to others who are passionate about being or becoming a photographer.
