A Classic Hadith

Hadith 13 of Nawawi's 40 Hadiths:

On the authority of Abu Hamzah Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) - the servant of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) - that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said :

"None of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself."

Related by Bukhari & Muslim.

I think this is important to keep in mind when thinking about the opposite gender, whom we often denigrate, demonize. or simply do not understand. But really they are our brothers and sisters in arms during this trial of life. We should try to practice more empathy and understanding for each other and try to want the best for each other.

BTW, I'm not trying to minimize real issues of injustice or wrongdoings in our communities and social interactions. It's just a reminder.
