Zone Controller Setup for Smart TRV Valves
Hello. This is my current setup:
I originally had an 2 x Esi thermostats controlling upstairs and downstairs independently. Both thermostats talk to a Esi wiring centre to control the opening/closing of the zone valves.
Tado version:
I now have replaced both Esi thermostats with wired Tado X thermostats so that they can still send a relay signal to the Esi wiring centre to open/close valves. I have disconnected the option for the Esi wiring centre to fire the boiler though.
This is done using the Tado Wireless Reciever X that is connected to the Combi boiler via OpenTherm.
I also have various Smart TRV set up.
All has been working fine until I noticed that the boiler would fire very often but not actually heat up the radiators that much as it would turn off to soon.
Also have an issue where occasionally the wired thermostat would send a relay to wiring centre which would close the valve but then not actually stop the boiler (wasting energy)
Zone Controllers: Downstairs - Smart TRV valves have the Wireless Receiver (fire the boiler) and the Wired Thermostat (send relay signal) as a zone controller.
The wired thermostats also itself and the wireless centre as a zone controller.
The same setup is upstairs.
Does this all sounds about right or have I done something wrong? Can’t figure out why the relay gets sent to close valves but smart thermostats take an extra 3-5 minutes to send a command to wireless receiver to stop boiler or why the boiler would fire but no relay command is sent to open valves…
