First Marathon Race Shoes questions

Race Shoe Question

Hello all,

As the title suggests running my first full marathon (Philly 11/23/25), goal time of 3:30 and reach time of 3:20.

I’ve been doing a majority of my training block in a pair glycerin max for easy mileage/recovery and then Boston 13s for anything involving speed regardless of distance.

I recently went to my local running store to try on and flirt with the idea of a pair of marathon race shoes. However low and behold i found my orthotics do not fit comfortably in either the Adios pro 4 or the alphafly 3. Those were the only marathon race specific shoes the store had, they’re tiny and local not their fault. So I politely thanked them for the time and dipped out.

Now here are my questions: are marathon race specific shoes needed for my time?

Should I just race my marathon in my bostons (I ran 22 miles with some mileage at race pace in them with no complaints)?

Does anyone have any shoes suggestions for marathon race shoes that could hypothetically fit orthotics?

Ultimately, I’m just nervous and want to figure out as much of my race day as possible before it’s too late.
