2025 Volkswagen Tayron – Emergency brake keeps slamming on while reversing. Anyone else had this?
Hey all,
I picked up my new Volkswagen Tayron eight days ago (seven-seater) and honestly, I’ve really enjoyed it so far. It’s comfortable, spacious, and feels solid on the road. The issue is the emergency brake system, which keeps triggering false positives when reversing.
It’s so aggressive that the first few times it happened, everyone in the car thought I’d reversed into something. The jolt is violent! it slams you back into your seat. At first, I assumed maybe I was being a bit careless, but it’s now happened over and over, even when reversing in a completely open car park with nothing around.
I phoned my local VW dealership to see if this was a known issue. The service advisor said he’s experienced the same kind of thing in cars like the Tiguan and ID.3, but admitted this sounded far worse than normal. Unfortunately, the earliest they can even look at the car is in about 10 days, which would put me beyond my 14-day return window.
I bought the car through Cinch rather than directly from the dealership, and I’ve already initiated a return. But honestly, I’m gutted. I really like the car otherwise and would much rather find a fix than go through the whole return process. That said, I’m not willing to keep something that behaves like this, it feels borderline dangerous.
Has anyone else had the same problem with the Tayron or other newer VW models? Did you find any solution, setting, or software update that helped reduce the braking sensitivity when reversing?
