Potassium Bicarbonate effect on IF

General Discussion

Is it true that B12 supplements don’t need stomach acid to be absorbed? I read that B12 in food is protein-bound and requires acid and pepsin to be released before it can bind to intrinsic factor.

But supplements are already in free form, so even if someone has low stomach acid from age, gastritis, or reflux meds, they should still absorb it reliably. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?
