Should I restart my island?

I have not picked up Animal Crossing: New Horizons in years. When it came out, I played nonstop for months. Then I kept up with the game for a good while as it updated and all the different yearly events happened. Then I just kinda stopped. But I have been thinking about picking it back up. The thing is: I worry I will get bored if there is not enough for me to do. I love my island and all of the residents. My favorite is Biskit. But I kind of want to start fresh. Does anyone have any input? Were you sad when you let your original island go? I worry I will miss my residents, especially Biskit.
