Soft Top - 330ci

My soft top motor works, I can hear it. However, halfway through folding down, the top gets stuck and then all I get is a click sound. The click is NOT from the box under the seat, it's coming from somewhere on the drivers side of the soft top. I noticed a small box there with wires plugged into it, maybe it's that? Any ideas? I've actually gotten the top to work a couple times, but usually it doesn't cooperate. One time recently it sounded like plastic busted and a black piece fell of plastic fell into the backseat. I couldn't figure out where it came from though. Sounds like the soft tops can only be a few different issues, so hopefully an easy fix
